When it comes to concussion, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all model for treatment. All concussions are treatable when managed properly. Any suspected concussions should be treated by a medical provider specifically trained in concussion management and treatment.
The majority of Americans don’t recognize some key best practices to treat a concussion.
79% incorrectly believe or are unsure that there is no real way to cure a concussion.
62% don’t recognize the need for the use of neurocognitive tests.
51% are not aware that after a concussion a person does not need to stay awake for 24 hours.
This survey was conducted online within the United States by Harris Poll on behalf of UPMC between April 16-23, 2015 among 2,012 U.S. adults age 18 or older, 948 of whom are parents.
