Dale Earnhardt Jr. immediately knew something was wrong during his 2012 crash at Talladega. Following the crash he experienced extreme mood and anxiety changes, which led him to seek treatment at the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program. In a new site Earnhardt and catcher David Ross share their personal stories. This news piece was also featured on ESPN.com, USA TodayYahoo, ABC News, among other publications.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s decision to pull himself out of the race at Talladega two years ago was something of a game changer. While the number of racing-related concussions has gone down in recent years the risk still exists. Earnhardt is now joining a new initiative by UPMC to raise awareness about concussions.

Another product has added Earnhardt as a spokesperson. This one is a little bit different. Earnhardt agreed, free of charge, to participate in a television campaign for the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program to educate athletes about treatment of concussions.
